”The Process of making the 1979 and 1999 Constitutions is Fundamentally Flawed. That is one of the Reasons we are in this mess today.” – Chief Gani Fawehinmi, May 27, 2009.

The excerpt is from the last interview Chief Gani Fawehinmi (SAN) granted to the Editorial Team of Guardian Newspaper in May of 2009, a few days after a Meeting with a NINAS Team led by Tony Nnadi, where Chief Fawehinmi was briefed on the NINAS Union Reconfiguration Proposition. Chief Fawehinmi passed on in the UK in September of 2009 after a long battle with a misdiagnosed debilitating ailment in Nigeria that tragically turned out to be cancer that had progressed to the terminal stage. Nigeria had happened to Chief Gani Fawehinmi.

This Interview was republished by the Guardian Newspaper on the 4th of September in 2009, following the demise of Chief Fawehinmi. It was titled: “A NEW NIGERIA WILL BE BORN WHEN WE HAVE A PEOPLE’S CONSTITUTION”.

Against the backdrop of the extensive Campaign of NINAS regarding the urgent need to Decommission the debilitating Unitary Constitution of Nigeria to rescue both Nigerians and Nigeria, these 2009 crystal-clear postulations of Chief Gani Fawehinmi should now be both a rebuke and an admonition to those who ignorantly or dishonestly proclaim that ”the Constitution is not the Problem with Nigeria” and that ”a New Nigeria is Possible” without first removing the obstructing 1999 Constitution and also Renegotiating a Fresh Union.

As Peter Obi had said in this video clip at the start of his 2023 Presidential Campaign:

Video: SHOCKING?? Peter Obi believes that the 1999 Constitution is NOT The Problem.

This piece should get to Peter Obi, Obidients, and other political gamblers and Ignoramuses who somehow imagine that the “good leadership” that could come from a good man getting to power is an alternative to the Constitutional Reconstruction that Nigeria urgently requires.
