The Change Nigeria Needs Now Is A Departure From Its Present Unitary Constitution To A Federal Constitutional Model Not A Change Of Baton From APC To ADC Or PDP

NINAS Secretariat

03 July 2025

In response to the apparent euphoria that greeted the aggregation of Opposition Political elements into a Coalition and the adoption of the ADC as Coalition Platform for contesting for Power in 2027, NINAS Secretariat states as follows:

In the face of the Multidimensional Failures of Nigeria and the Woes and Miseries of Nigerians, which have gone from bad to worse since 1999, it should now be past debate that the Change Nigerians need and seek now is a complete departure from the Anti-People, Anti-Progress and Anti-Development Unitary Constitution of Nigeria. That departure will take the form of an immediate transition to Constitutional Reconstruction.

Tragically, all Political Parties in Nigeria subscribe to the Death-Dispensing 1999 Constitution including the PDP, APC, LP, SDP, ADC and the rest.

With the 1999 Constitution that will be the basis of Elections in 2027 and therefore the basis of governance after that Election, neither the emergence of a Coalition of Opposition Parties nor the adoption of the ADC as the Coalition Platform, offers Nigerians any meaningful alternative to the Disastrous Governance Model that had been in operation since 1999 under the PDP and the APC.

It is in the light of the foregoing that NINAS will consider the apparent euphoria that has greeted both the emergence of an opposition coalition and the adoption of the ADC as Coalition Platform as being ill-informed and grossly misplaced.

NINAS restates its position that the Change Nigeria Needs Most Urgently is a complete departure from its current imposed and unworkable Unitary Constitutional Order to a Negotiated Federal Constitutional Arrangement, NOT a Change of Leadership from APC to ADC, PDP, or any other political party, nor from Bola Tinubu to Peter Obi or any other individual since it is now beyond debate that Nigeria’s core problem is a Structural one, from Nigeria’s Dysfunctional Unitary Constitution as Codified by the Fraudulent 1999 Constitution.

The Pretense that the problem of Nigeria is merely that of Leadership is a False Narrative to mislead and deceive the masses since it is known to those spinning and spreading that Narrative that the Unitary Constitution of Nigeria is directly responsible for the Bad Leadership, Corruption, Impunity and other manifestations of poor governance outcomes constantly lamented by the same political merchants.

Looking back at the uninspiring 16 years of the PDP in power and the even more disastrous and blood-soaked 10 years of the APC since 2015, it should now be clear to all that the Unitary Constitution of Nigeria is reason Nigeria is retrogressing on all fronts, having since emerged the Global Capital for Poverty and the hotbed of Terror and Mass-Murder with an Economy that is in Freefall.

The Peoples of Nigeria, as Victims of Unitary Nigeria, must now find the courage to question the wisdom of building their Country and their Democracy on a Constitution of Impunity that guarantees their damnation and renders the Rule of Law Untenable.

The young people in particular must ask themselves whether it is another round of National Elections in 2027 under the 1999 Constitution, as being propelled by the Political Parties, that will cure the maladies of Nigeria OR the initiation of an immediate Transitioning Process for the Orderly Constitutional Reconstruction of Nigeria as proposed by NINAS.

It should also be clear to all that the solution to Nigeria’s multifaceted challenges does not lie in a Change of Leadership but in the Fundamental Reconstruction of the Unitary Constitutional Foundation upon which the Distressed Federation of Nigeria is currently erected.

With the ongoing Fulani Conquest Onslaught, the State-Capture Gambit of Tinubu, those currently pushing towards the 2027 Elections under the 1999 Constitution are therefore making the following Choices:

(1) To Allow the Fulani to rapidly advance their Conquest Agenda whilst Nigerians are distracted by Futile Elections.

(2) To Reinforce the Caliphate-Imposed 1999 Constitution as the basis of Nigeria and its false Democracy.

(3) To Normalize the brazen State-Capture of Tinubu that has destroyed all institutions of State and the Rule of Law, Strangulating the Populace with Deliberately Debilitating Economic Policies.

With recent events in Rivers, Delta, Akwa-Ibom, and Benue States, it is obvious that the coming 2027 General Election is the main reason nothing meaningful is being done about the Three Existential Threats Listed above. With NINAS relentless enlightenment campaign, it has also become obvious to the public that the only Viable Redemption Pathway from these Three Existential Threats is the immediate Suspension of the Electoral Voyage to 2027 and the simultaneous initiation of a Transitioning Process for the Constitutional Reconstruction of Nigeria as Proposed by NINAS.
