It is most astonishing that the Igbo seekers of Biafra and lovers of freedom are unable to understand that the use of the word “Biafra” in their Agitation for Self-Determination automatically conscripts the entirety of the territories today known as Cross-River State, Akwa-Ibom State, Rivers State and Bayelsa State which were all a part of the Eastern Region that was declared “The Republic of Biafra” on the 30th of May, 1967, following one year of genocidal killings (pogroms) against Easterners (particularly Igbo), that began with July 29, 1966 so called “Revenge Coup”.
For those whose argument for “Biafra Restoration” is that there was a Sovereign State known as the “Republic of Biafra” between 1967 and 1970 they need to be educated that no one would suggest that there was no “Biafra Republic” declared May 30, 1967 or that over 3.5 million Igbo did not die in the fight and effort to sustain that Republic.
The unfortunate reality however is that that fight and effort was unsuccessful and was therefore formally called off January 15, 1970, but the aggression of Nigeria against Igbo did not abate.
Part of what collapsed that effort was the rejection of the Biafra Republic enterprise by a significant majority of Thought-Leaders of the Eastern Minorities (Niger-Delta) who were persuaded to see the 1967 Biafra as an Igbo attempt to annex the Eastern Minorities and usurp their Sovereignty and Economic Assets.
Therefore, if without discussions and reaching concrete agreements and understandings with the Eastern Minorities, an all-Igbo bid to “Restore Biafra” as Nnamdi Kanu’s IPOB is, it will, as we have already seen, only trigger an alarm, suspicion and therefore vehement rejection amongst the Eastern Minorities, with a violent pushback against Igbo that will be readily supported by members of the Igbo-Isolating 1967 Alliance of the rest of Nigeria.
The issue of the missing Map of the “Biafra” that is being restored by the Scam Merchants of the Rogue Biafra Franchise revolves around the question of their undiscussed and un-negotiated inclusion (thus claiming) of the Niger-Delta Territories of Cross-River, Akwa-Ibom, Rivers and Bayelsa States by the Proprietors of the “Biafra Restoration” enterprise.
The Urgent Question now is: why don’t we talk about Self-Determination for the Igbo-East or even the Greater East without saddling the Campaign with the word “Biafra” which automatically throws up the controversy of: “WHAT IS THE EXACT TERRITORIAL DELINEATION AND DESCRIPTION of the “Biafra” being restored by the predominantly-Igbo MASSOB or IPOB?”
Recall that between 1970 and 1974, Nigeria imposed a series of punitive policies against the Igbo including confiscation of the Biafra Currency, the Abandoned Property expropriation, the Indigenization Decree, Quota System and other Igbo-Inhibiting Policies which could be summarized as Economic Genocide.
Then, between 1975 and 1979, Nigeria imposed the Igbo-Exclusion and Igbo-Subjugation Unitary Constitution as Victory Charter from the War of 1967-1970.
Accordingly, the first-steps in Liberation of the Igbo-East from the stranglehold of the monster operating as “Nigeria” MUST OF NECESSITY include the defeat and ouster of that Unitary Constitutional Order which is maintained today (via the 1999 Constitution).
For those who STILL ask: “How then do we secure Igbo Freedom (meaning Restoration of Ethnic Sovereignty) from Nigeria that is bent on Igbo destruction?” The straight answer is to keep on pointing out that the Unitary Constitution imposed on Nigeria in the aftermath of the 1967-1970 War was the Victory Charter from that War, designed to permanently EXCLUDE and SUBJUGATE the Igbo in the Nigeria Project. (This also is the case for the indigenous Ethnic Nations of the Niger Delta, as well as for the other indigenous Ethnic Nations in the Nigeria Union).
Next is to invite them to understand that the solution to the Igbo Plight in Nigeria is to Crash that Unitary Constitution of Nigeria-1999, so as to terminate the Union of 1914 (which is now a Union of Death for the Igbo and others), erected on that Constitution AND therefore Free up the Sovereignty of all the constituent components of the Distressed Federation of Nigeria (including the Igbo), who will proceed in unfettered Self-Determination to work out fresh Constitutional Protocols either as Independent Units of Successor-Sovereign State Entities, or a loose Confederation of Sovereign State Entities, or a Proper Federation.
